I really enjoyed being on live New Year’s Day.  Today’s show included a
review of my favorite 10 CD’s of 2011 – and if you are a math major you will
notice there are 12 choices.  I could say it was a holiday special, but in
reality I thought there were too many exceptional CD’s released during the
past 12 months, and with a genre as diverse as “folk music”, I felt I needed
at least 2 more to help represent the great music we were treated to in
2011.

Here are my choices, in alphabetical order (based on first name):

Again, no particular order – I do not believe in the word “best” in terms of
these type of lists.  These are CD’s that were my favorites of 2011, and
there were several others that almost made the list.   I chose these because
of their personal appeal, and I felt they represent the diversity of our
genre and the great art that was produced in 2011.

There was a time when John Waters used to hang out at Club Charles, before Homicide and the Wire, when the Inner Harbor was being restored and before the days of disappear fear.  SONiA was part of an all girl power trio’ “Exibit A”.  Now for the first time SONiA has made those recordings available. From 1984 to 1987 Exibit A toured around DC Baltimore and NYC playing at the famous Marble Bar and Galaxy Ballroom,Maryland State Fairs,  Baltimore City Fairs, Hammerjacks, 8×10, 930 CLUB etc. These songs were recorded in the mid to late 80s, with Janet Guerra on drums, Diane Bowman on bass guitar and SONiA on lead vocals and guitar. They are also joined on a couple of songs by Donna Katrinic on keyboards.  All the songs were penned by SONiA.
